The Above and Beyond Fund was created in 2011 through a donation to TLC which required matching donations from the congregation. Donations from the congregation greatly exceeded the required amount for the match. The funds were designated towards missional outreach activities.
The Fund initially helped to fund mission trips, attendance of non-congregational members at the National Youth Gathering, and support of missionary outreach around the world. Over the years since 2012, the Above and Beyond Oversight Committee approved the allocation of approximately $26,000 for disaster relief, the work of of the ELCA around the world, and local missional outreach projects.
On August 10, 2020, the Oversight Committee approved the allocation of the final remaining funds in the account for Lutheran Disaster Relief for support of the people of Beirut, Lebanon suffering in the aftermath of the recent devastating explosion.
