Pilate asked him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice. - John 18:37

As we walk into the time of Thanksgiving and then the Holiday season, we take time to reflect on the truth that Jesus came into the world to reveal God’s heart and purpose for humanity. As Jesus heads into the time of his crucifixion, He speaks of His mission; to testify to the truth; that God is loving, just and merciful. Jesus is sent to help us understand God’s desire for a transformative connection with us.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings in our lives, but it is also an opportunity to recognize the ultimate truth of Christ that Jesus is our savior and king in a world filled with uncertainty and competing narratives. Jesus invites us to ground ourselves in the truth. This week and especially as we enter into the holiday season, let us focus on the gifts that come from knowing Christ; Love, Grace, Mercy and Hope.

As you gather in the homes of family and friends, take time to not just show your gratitude for the physical blessings around you, but for the spiritual truth that sustains us - that God is always present.

Peace, Pastor Erin
