For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on. -  Mark 12:44

We call this story the widow’s mite. As if the widow is the hero of the tale. But in reality she is the victim - She was not the one who came to the rescue of anyone else - and Jesus is not telling us to be the victim.

Jesus is pointing out how the “system” is devouring widow’s. They are being crushed by the corrupt temple system. The widow’s mite was often overlooked because it was so small - but not for her. For the widow it was all she had to live on.

So if our response is not to give our “All” then how can we celebrate Jesus by learning from this lesson?
  1. Beware of leaders who seek financial gifts from vulnerable people
  2. In our church practices we should NEVER PRESSURE people to give money
  3. Allow the mercy and Grace of God, that we have received through Jesus Christ, to motivate us to care for the poor and vulnerable.
Jesus noticed and cared for the poor and vulnerable people when no one else did. If we are to be like Him, we need to do this too. So who do you know who is like this widow? Who do you know who is vulnerable? Who do you know who is lacking a safety net?

Peace, Pastor Erin

Every Sunday, we come together at Trinity to catch a glimpse of God’s Kingdom through community, worship, and service. This vision—of living as Jesus lived, sharing grace, and inspiring one another—unites us as a church family. Trinity is a strong, growing community, but our mission needs continued support.

As you reflect on your own blessings, we invite you to consider how you might support Trinity in this season of stewardship. Your generosity keeps our ministry vibrant, sustaining our work and reaching more lives. Together, let’s live out this vision with grateful, open hearts.

Pleaes bring your commitment cards this Sunday!
