He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Messiah.” - Mark 8:27

Who we claim Jesus is in our lives says a lot not only about who Jesus is in the world, but also what we understand of who God is.  Who is God not just at this moment, but across time?

As Jesus stood with the disciples at Caesarea Philippi, a place with a strong history of “legendary” rulers,  this question and Peter’s following statement speak volumes.  It cries out from the framework of the faith lives of the Jewish people, and forward into the future.  Revealing that this is the Messiah that had been promised and prophesied about in the books of Moses and the prophets.  This is the one who was expected to come and save the Jewish people.  He was not just another messenger, He was the Son of God, Himself.

The Messiah was sent to save ALL of humanity. This salvation came through His death and Resurrection.

But what does that really mean for us?  We are not the ones who need saving.  Or are we?  We may not understand the confines of being slaves to a ruling class.  And yet, we share the same humanity.  If we claim this Jesus for any one of us, we also claim Jesus as Messiah for all of us.

How do we live that out in our daily lives?  What difference does it make?

These are only a couple of the questions that we seek to answer. Our lives will be transformed as we seek the answers

Peace in the transformation
