I have often “wondered” about this verse.  Namely that Jesus points to God and directs us to see God, which is a familiar technique that Jesus uses to teach us to look to God.  However, this command also makes me wonder, just where is the direction of this command headed.  Is Jesus saying to God, “be open, see what I am seeing, pay attention to where I am, listen to the cries of the people”,  or is it a command to the ears of the man who he is healing.  Be open, you ears, that you may assist this man in participating in the life of the world.

Where is it that we are clearly closing ourselves off to God?  Are we listening to the cries of those around us who clearly need our attention?

Where do you think God is listening - or not listening to you?

Peace, Pastor Erin
