Youth & Family Minister Vision Plan

Trinity Lutheran Church (TLC), located in the heart of beautiful Ventura, California, is looking for a Youth and Family Minister who will be a leader of change and coordinate activities and a network of volunteers to build community within the congregation. TLC is strengthening our staff, our families within the church, and our community connections. Even though we have been able to gather weekly for worship, COVID has affected all of us and our ability to connect. It has taken a huge toll on our daily lives both physically and emotionally. We are seeking a Youth and Family Minister who will provide the leadership and organization for our ministry to youth, birth to college age, who will promote faith, and make a difference in our congregation and in the world we serve. It will require patience, perseverance, prayer and a commitment to build our program.

We will create new and relevant ways of providing a team to support YOU. It will consist of parents, families, students, grandparents, friends and mentors who are eager to join together to achieve this vision.
Who are we looking for? Could it be you?
  1. Are you approachable?

  2. Relationships and community building are important to TLC. Will you invest energy to create a new ministry model where you are not doing all the work but at the center of making it happen?

  3. Is having Youth engaged in our church service and church mission every Sunday important to you? We envision youth and adults working together toward healthy, personal and meaningful relationships daily.

  4. Do you see a place at TLC where families gather with youth, parents and seniors promoting engaging dialogue and lasting faith-based relationships?

  5. Are you passionate? With passion comes great potential and we want a leader who is not afraid to think creatively and bring new ideas!

  6. Do you continually strive to achieve personal aims and overcome difficulties, rather than passively retreat from or be overwhelmed by frustration?

  7. Can you move towards the opportunities with open arms and an open mind?

  8. Are you looking for long term employment where you work together with the senior pastor to create a web of connections making TLC a safe, welcoming, and supportive place for youth from birth through college age, with many involved for the common good of the family of God?

  9. We are interested in building a team of committed adults who will support, guide and participate in this ministry. Are you excited to join our team?

Expectations
  • Full time work (40 hours) with varying and flexible hours. Work will include nights and weekends with travel to church member’s homes, other churches, retreats, and youth gatherings. At the same time, TLC is committed to self-care and setting healthy boundaries to avoid burnout. Work over a weekend will be compensated with time off during the week, for example.

  • Networking with area congregations to broaden partnership ministry opportunities.

  • Building, balancing, and maintaining a budget.

  • Communicate with youth and families on a consistent basis in person, text, phone calls, email and social media platforms.

Goals

A love for the Lord, for our young children, youth and adults and a desire to connect with them on a spiritual and in-depth level.
