“The Jesus Driven Life” or Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up?

On January 29th, we will begin an eight week book study of The Jesus Driven Life by Michael Harden. It is based on the work of anthropologist/ theologian Rene Gerard who recognized in the Gospels the human pattern of behavior repeated throughout history and God’s loving response in Jesus that breaks the ongoing pattern of conflict and violence. Each session will be presented by Ralph Midtlyng and will include a 30 – 35 minute video with time to respond and converse about what is presented.

There are four sessions in the two chapters we will be considering as follows:

Chapter 1: The Christian Life

  • January 29 – Beginning with Jesus
  • February 5 – The Great commandment
  • February 12 – Jesus’ Abba
  • February 19 – Life of the Kingdom of God

Chapter 2: How Jesus Read His Bible

  • February 26 – Discovering the Beloved God
  • March 5 – Messiah or Son of Man?
  • March 12 – The Mercy Code
  • March 19 – Kingdom Ethics

We will be meeting shortly after the 11:00 a.m. worship service in The Garden Room (library). Feel free to bring a bag lunch if you desire. Each of these sessions can be viewed independently of the others. You are invited to attend all or some of them. There are 24 additional sessions that can be scheduled in the future if there is enough interest in going further.
